Malmo and Copenhagen, Sweden and Denmark, are only a few kilometres apart and can be travelled by bus, car or train.
Denmark and Sweden are in fact joined by a 15 km long bridge in the vicinity of the two cities: the Oresund Bridge makes it very easy to go to Copenhagen from Malmo and vice versa.
Copenhagen - Malmo
Below you will find the complete guide with all the ways to get from Copenhagen to Malmo, by train, bus and car.
FROM COPENHAGEN TO MALMO BY TRAIN
The train takes about 35 minutes to reach Sweden from Denmark. Trains leave from Copenhagen Central Station (København, in front of Tivoli).
The ticket costs DKK 84 (about EUR 12), the return ticket twice as much. There is the possibility of buying a 5-way travel card which costs 670 DKK and saves on the cost of the trip but can only be used if the return journey takes place within 48 hours (handy if you decide to stay in Malmo to visit Copenhagen, spending a little less).
Trains run about every 20 minutes and services continue throughout the night.
FROM COPENHAGEN TO MALMO BY BUS
The bus takes longer than the train to reach Copenhagen from Malmo and costs DKK 120 per round trip. However, if you make the journey by bus or car you can enjoy the journey from the window (you can't see anything from the train).
COPENHAGEN MALMO BY CAR
The car is undoubtedly the fastest way to travel the distance between Denmark and Sweden. However, it does not make sense to rent a car just to travel this distance. Staying in Malmo and renting a car to travel around Sweden and including Denmark in the tour could be a good idea instead.
COPENHAGEN MALMO BY BIKE
The Oresund Bridge is a motorway and as such cannot be used by bicycles. You can take your bicycle with you by train or alternatively by some bus companies (to be agreed upon before departure).
